Santa Claus, “Joulupukki”, was born over 300 years ago in Finland. Santa Claus’s world is fascinating, mysterious and filled with Christmas magic.
He lives far away in northern Finland at the distant polar circle. He is a warm-hearted and long grey-bearded old fellow. There in north he lives together with his wife, “Joulumuori”, the elves (tontut) and the reindeers. This place is called Lapland, in Finnish “Lappi”. They live right at the foot of the Korvatunturi Fell.
At the Christmas Eve he visits all homes bringing Christmas gifts. He radiates warmth and inspires confidence. Santa Claus is everyone’s friend, he treats all humans and animals equally.
Finnish Christmas has a magical power to bring joy and happiness to everybody’s heart.
